I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day! As a gift to myself and my mom, I signed up for a Mother’s Day mini sessions that the talented Meg Perotti put together in hopes that I could get some good snaps with the twins that I’m actually in. I’m sure my fellow mamas can relate, when you’re the one always taking the pictures, you rarely end up in the frame. Also, I somehow have very few pics of my mom and me, so I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to change that.
I’d been following Meg for a while and am so happy I got the opportunity to work with her. She is not only so incredibly talented, but also SO SWEET and so great with kids (she’s a mama of three herself). With mini sessions, you sign up for a 30 minute or so time slot and that’s what you get. I put the wrong address in GoogleMaps (road vs court) and found myself SO flustered as we ended up being a little late. Luckily, the person scheduled after us was early and had an infant, which is much easier than dealing with two rambunctious toddlers and was able to swap with our time slot. Our session ended up being way more hectic than the pictures appear and Meg was so patient with our craziness. Brylie didn’t want to give up her wubanub and Braxton just wanted to run around or drink my mom’s agua, which isn’t exactly the photo op I had in mind 😉. Basically, my mom and I were sweating the whole time and I was convinced we weren’t going to get any good shots. Meg worked her magic and surprised the heck out of me! We got SO many good ones I had a hard time parsing it down to share here.
My big takeaway – professional photos are ALWAYS worth it and toddler shoots are WAY harder than babies. Hopefully we’ll be entering the world of bribery soon?!
